How Long Should a Proposal Remain Valid?
A proposal should remain valid long enough for the buyer’s realistic review process but not longer than your labor, material, capacity or supplier pricing can be held. Many service proposals use 15 to 30 days, but the correct period depends on the work.

Base validity on real constraints
Check supplier quote expirations, labor rates, availability, permitting assumptions and seasonal capacity before choosing a date. The validity period should reflect what you can actually honor.
State what expiration means
Explain whether expiration requires a refreshed proposal, a price confirmation or a new schedule. Expiration should not silently convert into acceptance or rejection.
Use a specific date
A calendar date is easier to understand than “valid for 30 days,” especially when several revisions exist. Each revision should show its own issue and expiration date.
